The Yalp Memo; small footprint design, significant impact!
Kringlaskolan, a primary school in Sweden, expanded its schoolyard and wanted something that would fit their school’s future vision. “Our schoolyard is not big, so we were looking for something that doesn’t require much space but can activate the children. I think we have achieved that with the Yalp Memo.”
In 2015, the school had given their schoolyard a significant upgrade and installed several traditional playsets. Teachers noticed that the children were much calmer in class. Now they had fun activities during their breaks. The school wanted to offer the students an even better play experience and desired something new and unique.
We have reached the goal we have set.
“We chose the Yalp Memo on recommendation, we did not know anything about it before,” says Sirkka Persson, Principal of the Kringlaskolan. “The design and durability of the Memo appealed to us from the start. We bought the playset in red, which is the color of our school’s logo! It’s an excellent investment. In less than a week, we noticed that it perfectly corresponds to our plan and already reached the set goals. This playset promotes movement, spreads joy, and gives students who struggle socially to bond with other students more easily.”
Sirkka continues: “The Yalp Memo is the only playset on our schoolyard that doesn’t require a supervisor. Something we couldn’t imagine being possible! The Memo is truly about physical activity, learning, and social interaction. You can pick several interactive games focusing on physical exercise or learning math and training your memory in a fun way. The great thing is that the students understand everything about the playset and games. It’s intuitive.”

From sketch to realization
The Yalp Memo installation was finished in April 2017 and made possible by Yalp’s respected partner Lekolar in Sweden. The client revealed to be very pleased with the help they received: “We received help during the entire process, from idea to installation, which we found crucial. Since installation, the school’s students haven’t stopped playing until the product was switched off at night. The Yalp Memo is a big hit and is being played for over 4 hours on average each day.”

Until now, you’ve known us as Yalp, but in 2024, we’re undergoing an exciting transformation into Lappset. But not much will change!
